Chapter 17. Megan and Raguel: Two Of Kind

Megan wasn’t sure that it was worth sharing her thoughts with Raguel, but she was obliged to get permission to kill John. “Damn him!”
Megan requested a conversation with him and began to reassure herself to negotiate with a cold head. Soon his image appeared in the room.
“Why are you so sad?”
“Rick has disappointed me.”
“Everything’s going according to plan, right?”
“Yes, it is. He’s already done all that’s required of him. There’s no need for him further,” she got up from the chair and stood opposite.
“And yet you called me…”
“We have to kill John Constantine. He’s abnormally dangerous.”
“You know the rules.”
“Rules-shmules! Damn the rules…”
He calmly watched her reaction.
“Where are the rules in what we do?”
“We cannot act openly. Otherwise, why would we need your help?”
“John is dangerous as fuck. Only his liquidation will give a 100% guarantee of the success of our business.”
“Sit and listen to! The death of John will draw the attention of the Lord to this event. I’m sure, and so it was that he’d like to know how this happened.”
Megan didn’t give up and stood her ground.
“It’s not necessary to do it yourself … an accident or something like this.”
“Don’t even try to underestimate Him. Don’t go into those things that you’re not able to get. The Lord will see that this was a part of the plan, not an accident.”
“But John …”
“I’ve said, “no.” Don’t even think about this. If he interferes … well, we’ll wait for his natural death. I don’t see any problems… and about Rick… Do you want to kill him? I don’t care.”
“Okay … Let’s be in touch. I’ll keep you informed.”
The contours of Raguel went out. Now she could not hide her emotions.
“Hell with two!” She clenched her fists. “Waaaait?” She kicked a chair. “Not for this, I’ve been preparing everything for two years! Eternity, the fuck, they have, but I don’t have it!”
She fell on the sofa and started punching it.
“Rick, now Raguel… John prevents us. Megan, solve. Gabriel climbs out of her way to end me. Megan, calm down and don’t lean out, now is not the time… and everyone wants a prize! Does anyone, da fuck, want to do dirty work?!”
She jumped to her feet, having appealed to the void. The cat was horrified by her cries and ran away somewhere without showing.
“No? I cannot hear?! Megan again?! I’m in charge here! Is it clear to all of you?!”
Having quenched the first outbursts of rage, she took a pear from a fruit vase and bit it. Juice ran down the corners of her lips, having dripped onto a T-shirt.
“You won’t last that long, John Constantine!” Having mobilized to overcome the emotional state after the conversation, she issued a battle cry. “Let’s start the action!” She shouted up after a loud pop of chewing gum, having made several moves by hands in the air, and sat down in the chair to the laptop. Having turned on Depeche Mode for the background, she herself didn’t notice how she began to sing along:

“Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable,”

after which the work and her mood began improving.
