Chapter 14. The Story Of Rick. Megan Met Rick

Before Balthazar spotted Rick, he was a mid-level functionary at the state level. His assertiveness and zeal were the keys to unlocking his potential. Yes, he wasn’t a half-breed of great intelligence but always kept his nose in the wind.
Rick was a tall blond over six feet. He looked handsome and stately. Strands of hair casually falling on the forehead and blue eyes complimented the image. His facial features absorbed the best lines of his behavior: cunning and assertiveness.
For the first time, his faith in Balthazar’s power was undermined after day X. He saw the condition of half-breed Demons in those short days of anarchy. There was a whole palette of negative emotions: anger, hatred, despair, but the disappointment was the dominant one, and in half-breed circles, they started talking about a person who called Megan.
The few days of Balthazar’s absence were enough for him to understand that he didn’t want to go after him to Hell. Serving the Demon is one thing, but going after him to Hell is another one. His absence unclenched the noose and allowed Rick to delve into his affairs. He went on risky business, which, when Balthazar returns, would promise him a pass to Hell out of turn.
Rick looted his team “stuff” that he ran, which was supposed to be used to bribe, hired killers, and other matters in the interests of Balthazar, and spent every cent to gain access to files on Balthazar’s PC and Google disk.
Among the docs were a lot of things: plenty of dirt. Alas, there was nothing that could be valued outside the Earth. Everything has been junk, except for one file.
Its unusual nature was that it was in the “important” folder and had only a few lines of text: ‘The Eve Project. Frank Makler. Mediums’.”
In the world of half-breeds, mediums were worth their weight in gold in the literal sense of the word. Owning them opened up endless opportunities for their owner. Having sold a part of the “regular” intel from the “dirt” folders, Rick was able to collect more money. This time, he invited hackers to his place to work on hacking the servers of Frank’s company called Happiness.
He kept his secrets under reliable protection, so all that was managed to get was that Gabriel asked to compile a database of mediums in California, Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. After receiving this information, he killed the hackers.
The goals for him were clear, and he made the final decision to break up with Balthazar. This gave him the opportunity to work for Frank in the security service. Having learned of the date when the report on the Eve project would be done, he began to prepare.

Raguel’s second appearance wasn’t long in coming. He set to work immediately.
“How did I work?”
“So-so,” he lied so that Megan wouldn’t be conceited. “Gabriel has survived.”
“You should have foreseen this …”
“… I foresaw.”
“So, I worked well?”
“Better than the others before you. So, what do you want?”
“In terms of?”
“From life.”
“I wanna end Gabriel!” She blurted out decidedly and almost instantly.
“I’m impressed by your fuse. What’ll happen if I tell you that in case of death, I guarantee you a pass to Heaven?”
“I’ll destroy everyone and everything!”
“Agreed. The Archangels came to a tough decision. It was decided to take humanity under direct control. For the transition, we need mediums… many mediums.”
“The Lord won’t allow this. This is a breach of the divine Deal. He’ll burn everyone, as it’s been with the Grail.”
“He doesn’t care. He’s tired of them.”
“Wow! It changes everything. I’ll help you with mediums, but it can take years if we look for them alone.”
“A man who’s working for Gabriel recently died. He told me that she’s collecting and planning to protect them.”
“Do you think she found out about your plans?”
“Ruled out. The project is called Eve. Learn everything about it.”
“What’s next?”
“Do not get ahead of yourself. First things first.”

In the next few months, she was engaged in surveillance, obtaining information through the bed, blackmailing, torturing, and murdering. There was only one opportunity to get data, namely, to get Frank Mackler’s report about the Eve project.
So… this day has come. Megan has pretended to be a delivery service girl. This helped her to reach the needed floor without any problems and take advantage of the absence of an office manager to go into his office, having held a gun ready.
Frank looked at her, having kept calm. She went to a table and opened one of the folders intended for visitors.
“Exactly what I need!”
“You’re late, miss. This is just an incomplete paper version. The customer will receive his or her copy in any case and provide them with reliable protection.”
At that moment, Rick entered the office. Having seen this, he pointed a gun at her than at him. He came to the table and took one of the copies.
“Oh shit!” Megan cried out, having realized that it was time to retreat before they were caught.
Rick was visited by the same thoughts, but “Who the hell is this?” She looked at Rick half a turn.
“I’m Megan. Yes, I’m that one.”
“It’s time to leave.”
“We don’t need witnesses. I have an offer for you. Just say one word.”
“Eve.”
They simultaneously began to empty magazines in Frank. Finally, his limp body sank into a chair, having poured all in blood.
“It’s time to naff!”
Rick looked questioningly at the other report folders on the table.
“Don’t touch them. Let everyone think that the project has nothing to do with it.”
Megan introduced Rick to the Angels. Gabriel checked Eve’s mediums and made sure that everyone was in place, safe, and sound. This reassured her.
Later, having used the resources of Angels, they created Suicide Channel. Gabriel found out that Megan was alive and began to form a circle of loyalists around herself. The most devotees were called the Council of Eight. During this period, Megan was going to end Gabriel, but Angels were forced to pull her off, as this threatened to reveal them ahead of time, having let Rick be in charge of Suicide Channel. It hurt her because she brought him to them, but since everything was going according to plan, she decided that Paris was worth the Mass.
Having lured enough followers, they proceeded to the second part of the plan.
