Chapter 12. The first contact

As a result of the accident, a tank truck has turned over, and all gasoline spilled onto the nearest cars. One spark should be enough, and … it’s been found.
Megan was dying in terrible agony, being burned alive. Around her, everything began to darken. A connection between a soul and body was lost. For her, as for a half-breed, there was only one way to go to… it is to Hell.
Suddenly, the crimson darkness around her was cut by a bright glow. “No! This cannot be true!”
“Hello, Megan! I’m Raguel, Archangel. I hope you heard about me.”
“But why?”
“Because of Gabriel. You were her third in command.”
“I was …”
“I see she’s told you nothing about her plans. She‘s going to help Balthazar compose the Grail.”
“She must be stopped.”
“You know… It’s an amazing unity of opinions. Other Archangels think the same.”
“I… I’ve got something to offer!” Megan seized the opportunity, as she didn’t want to Hell at all.
“What is this?”
“I still have an influence on the half-breed Angels. I can lead them into battle and prevent its composing. You did NOT come to me for no reason, did you?”
“Yes. It’s a deal. There are a few more offers for you but first, solve this problem.”
His outlines began fading, but to her surprise, along with this, the background of Hell too. Megan has been given a second chance. She found herself laying on the beach in casual clothes.
Her return, like preparations, went unnoticed for Gabriel. She tried to maintain conspiracy and succeeded in this. In order to lie low on the operation, she was able to merge intel about the upcoming event of Balthazar and Gabriel to the Chief of State Police, who, like her, was also an Angelic half-breed. A few days before day X, the police and SWAT, almost entirely consisting of half-breed Angels, gathered in the vicinity of the Nevada Nuclear Test Site, ready at the command of Megan to advance to positions. Despite the differences among them, they were all sure that Balthazar should be stopped.
On day X, the military planned training at the experimental ground, and the cops “received” a call that preparations were underway at this training ground for a series of terrorist attacks. The military, which consisted entirely of Demonic half-breeds, did everything possible to prevent the crews who arrived “on-call” from entering. A shootout began between them, which grew into a clash.
Nevertheless, the process of collecting parts of the Grail and its activation has begun. During the skirmish, Balthazar received accusations that Gabriel was being followed; worse, she did it intentionally, which added to his nerves and jeopardized the success of the event.
A successful activation enabled Gabriel to gain access to the Throne energy, but every second caused her more and more concern. She wasn’t only overwhelmed by ever-increasing energy, but the Grail itself was going to replace her consciousness, having chosen her as its future vessel.
Panic completely took Gabriel. Her plan for quickly restoring lost abilities melted like snow under the sun, but the likelihood of turning into a zombie was becoming inevitable.
At this point, the carnage between the half-breed forces was in full swing: everything’s been used from spells to small arms, armored vehicles, and helicopters.
According to her condition, Balthazar has noticed that something was going wrong. He tried to take control of it, but the flow of the Throne energy was beyond the power of any Demon. She resisted the inevitable as much as she had strength, and at the moment of agony, she called for the help of the Lord.
Clouds have appeared in the sky, having started circular motion around a conditional center. After each lightning strike, wherever this happened, there was only scorched earth and mountains of charred corpses. One of them fell into the arsenal of the base and launched a series of explosions. Having seen what was happening, all skirmish participants scattered all over the place, having looked for a shelter in the folds of the area.
Another one incinerated Balthazar, having sent him once again to Hell. The Grail suffered the same fate: it’s been split and disappeared again. The energy of the Throne helped Gabriel not only survive the Divine Intervention but also regain consciousness. Megan received her dividends, having met the expectations of the Archangels. They found her work well done.
