New York City lives its active, hasty, and busy life. People rush everywhere, minding their own and expecting to reach offices without delays. Toll roads don’t help them so much with the morning traffic jams, as well as, MTA keeps running the slogan: “It’s not a delay if it’s every day.”
On this clear day, Manhattan appeared in the splendor of its beautiful skyscrapers. Today, near the UN Headquarters, it was as crowded as ever. Politicians, public figures, and media from almost all countries have gathered here. Among the speakers, there were many participants in the latest conflict. Everyone has gathered in the hall: John, Gabriel, James Merwin, returned Balthazar, Andrew, Candy, Midnite, and Angela. The moment has come for John to speak. He went up to the podium and took the word:
“You know, in my short life, I’ve managed to die three times. Each new attempt has been given to me in order to fulfill my mission: to protect humanity at all costs.
The fact that our world was unusual, I’ve learned too early thanks to the Lord’s gift. Having been a child, I’ve visited Hell, and this completely changed my life. I’d seen that the Earth became a refuge not only for people but also for half-breed Angels and Demons. Their appearance has become a part of the shaky truce between Heaven and Hell; thus, the confrontation was transferred to Earth. In the struggle for human souls, the half-breeds have gone all the way, having forgotten their true purpose, knowing that after death, they go to Hell.
Having helped people, I’ve pursued the goal of ridding the world of half-breeds. Being in the heat of the struggle, I didn’t notice how their puppeteers entered the stage … We continued to go about our business without noticing impending threats. At first, Mammon had made an attempt to enslave our world, but I’ve managed to stop him at the cost of my life. Angels have tried too, but with the same result.
Despite our small victory, they didn’t abandon their plans. Today, I came here to restore the balance: “Gabriel and Balthazar, please stand up!”
To the endless amazement of the audience, the characters from legends and lore have been in the same room with them.
“By the authority given to me by Lucifer and the Lord, I ask to restore the rights of Balthazar and Gabriel as the ambassadors of Hell and Heaven on Earth.”
Seconds later, Balthazar’s hands began to burn in flames, and Gabriel spread her wings. They met with glances: this all didn’t seem to them. It actually became a reality: John is able to regain power for them, bypassing the Deal. If before this, the Truce between Heaven and Hell was based on the Deal where their confrontation was being transferred to Earth. Now, everything has changed. He’s been able, at the cost of his self-sacrifice, impartiality, and influence, to get a truce for people during a new round of conflict between Heaven and Hell.
“I hope you’ll appreciate the peace received at such a price,” John finished the speech and went down.
